[REVIEW] Maybelline – The BLUSHED nudes

I’ve already posted a first impression of this palette, if you haven’t checked it out, you can read it here. I’ve used this palette for almost a month now and I’ve played around with multiple looks, ranging from smokey to light and natural.

Pigmentation: Like it’s sister palettes, the pigmentation is really sub-par. There’s nothing spectacular about the color pay off and honestly they all need to have some type of base. Even the darker colors need some type of help to not look patchy. The lighter colors don’t really show up pigmented, and the darker colors can appear similar to each other. Below are pictures of the shades, up close – in the order they appear in the actual palette:

Finishes: They’re mainly all a shimmery finish. It’s difficult to tell in the pictures, but each color has some type of shimmer to it except for the light brown/taupe color. That color is a matte finish, which is great as a transition color.

Blendability: Most of these colors are easy to blend out. I had some difficulties with the lighter shades. With the amount of shimmer/frost to them, they can end up looking a little wonky, especially if you try to blend it into your crease or concentrate it in a small area. Those colors tend to have this silver/harsh white look to them and it’s not flattering at all.

Color Variety: As you can tell, the 4 medium brown colors all look the same in the pictures, and to be honest they all perform pretty similar to each other. I didn’t see any difference between the 4 when I used them. Even when swatched they look relatively similar to each other. The bottom 2 darker colors of the palette also look very similar when applied.

Worth The Money?: This palette retails for about $10 and I’m not sure if you’ll be able to find this everywhere. To be honest, the only place I’ve seen it is Walmart. Though it may come with 12 eyeshadows, which would be an amazing deal, I’ve tried cheaper palettes that had more pigmented and unique eyeshadow colors. The pigmentation and lack of color variety is pretty sad. Maybelline has some amazing products out there and I personally love the Maybelline line, however, this is just lacking in so many areas.

I will still gravitate towards this palette when I want to create a soft/romantic smokey eye, but that’s about it. There’s nothing too spectacular that makes this palette stand out. I honestly think you’ll be able to find quads that will be able to give you a wider array of looks than this palette.

If you’ve tried this palette out let me know what you thought or if you know of any other drug store palettes I can check out let me know in the comments below!!
