May 2015 Favorites

Hey guys! I was going to record a video for this, but I just didn’t have time to create a quality video, so I decided to write it out instead! I hope you enjoy!!

  • L’Orèal – True Match Foundation (W4)

True matchWhenever I wear this foundation to work I always get compliments from customers about how smooth my skin looks and this is why. I love this foundation and even when I don’t wear a primer underneath is still looks amazing on. It’s lightweight and has just the minimal amount of shimmer to it, but it lasts all day. Super affordable and the shade range is amazing. If you have extremely oily skin this may be one of those foundations where you’d want a mattifying primer.

  • Too Faced – Sweetheart Blush (Peach Beach)

Too Faced This is a staple in my everyday makeup look, but during the month of May I decided to switch it up a little bit. I usually use the bottom two shades as a blush and I use the top gold strip as a highlighter, but I wanted to have a more natural glow so I decided to mix the top and middle color and I fell in love. The two shades just give the slightest glow with a hint of peachy-pink. It’s a great look for summer.

  • MAC Prolongwear Concealer (NW20)

MAC ConcealerI was extremely hesitant to use any of the pro longwear products because I heard a lot of people breaking out from it, but I took the plunge anyways because I knew I could get my skin back to where it was. I love the coverage of this concealer and I haven’t had any problems with it breaking out my skin. It brightens up my complexion and makes it look like I got 15 hours of sleep. Plus, it stays all day and doesn’t settle into any of my fine lines.

  • Laura Mercier – Matte Radiance Baked Powder – 04

My dad brought this home for me to try out. I love the fact that it gives a natural looking contour, but still brings a little warmth back into my look. The only down fall is that it’s extremely powdery. It’s really long lasting and I think it gives just the right amount of bronze/contour.

  • Real Techniques – Foundation Brush:

Foundation Brush - 1I don’t normally rave about any type of brush, but this brush is life changing for me. For the longest time I’ve been using some type of sponge to apply my foundation, but I decided to go ahead and pick this up. The angel makes it easy to get into all the small little areas around my face (around my nose, underneath my eyes, etc.) and it’s a little thicker than your typical foundation brush so it makes blending/buffing out my foundation easy. The only downside is that it is a high maintenance brush, so every 2 weeks I have to wash it. For some of you, you may be thinking, “You don’t wash your brushes that often?!” Hey, I’ve got other things to do and not a lot of brushes, so I don’t have the luxury of washing my brushes often.

  • Maybelline – The Nudes Palettes

The Nudes

Now we all know that I’m definitely not a huge fan of these palettes because they’re not pigmented, but I have to be honest, I’ve been reaching for these guys when I need a quick look. I can create easy dat time appropriate smokey eyes and I don’t really have to think about what colors I need to use. In The Blushed Nudes, I’ve been mainly using the maroon color (top right) and the antique rose gold color (left of the maroon) and in the original The Nudes palette, I’ve been using the last two colors on the right on the top row and the quad that’s in the middle of the palette. I can create and easy brown/bronze/gold smokey eye. Since the colors in the palettes aren’t very pigmented I do use a black base underneath.

  • elf – Waterproof Eyeliners (Teal, Coffee, Purple)

Elf EyelinersI recently posted a review on the Teal color from elf, but I’ve been loving these eyeliners to add a little something extra to looks. I do wish the colors applied a little lighter, the teal and the purple look really similar when swatched and applied. However, I love having these for summer because they add a fun spin on what could easily be a neutral look. Plus, they’re extremely affordable and they last a decent amount of time.

  • NYC – High Definition Liquid Eyeliner

NYC EyelinerI usually have a difficult time finding an eyeliner that can last all day on my jacked up eyelids, so I don’t like splurging on eyeliners (no matter what the formula is). However, I decided to pick this up since it’s a pretty affordable product, compared to the cost of other eyeliners. I ended up really liking this because: 1. it is long lasting, 2. the felt tip is amazing on it, and 3. it’s extremely pigmented and the actual product lasts a decent amount of time. This is currently my second one that I picked up, and I really love everything about it. Even though it’s not waterproof, I don’t notice is transferring or bleeding everywhere when my eyes get watery.

  • Maybelline – Lash Sensational (WP)

Lash SensationalI think I’ve raved about this particular mascara before, but let me rave again. This mascara is like one of my all time favorite Maybelline mascaras (Falsies Flared), but I like the brush for this particular mascara a tiny bit better. Maybelline has a great variety of mascaras and I honestly don’t remember having a Maybelline mascara that I really disliked. The formula may be too dry for most people, but I love it because it really helps hold my curl and I love the fact that I don’t suffer any type of transfer.

  • KISS Falsies – 03

KISS falsiesI don’t usually wear false lashes, but these are some life changing lashes! The band is so comfortable, it gives me a natural look, but at the same time it boosts up my lashes. Words just can’t describe how much I love these lashes and how comfortable they are. I can sleep in them and I can wear them all day long. If you’re in the market for some easy to use falsies that are comfortable with a flexible band, then this is something you should check out.

  • SoftLips – Vanilla

SoftlipsSince the summer heat came in, my skin has been extra dry, which leads to my lips being extra dry as well. I haven’t been liking the other lip balms I have because they don’t have the spearmint-y feel to them, but I love that feeling because it feels like it’s really hydrating my poor lips. I stopped using Softlips because I just wanted to try something knew, but I knew if I wanted my lips to be back to how they used to be, I needed to pick this baby up, and I’ve been in love ever since.

  • Maybelline – Color Sensational L/S (Purposeful Mauve)

Prosporous MauveI wish this wasn’t a limited edition color, but this is my perfect my lips but better colors. I honestly have a difficult time finding a perfect nude color because they either pull too pink or too brown, but this is a happy medium and the formula is extremely comfortable on my lips. This is a regular lipstick so the longevity and everything is pretty typical to any other type of lipstick.

  • Nollie Perfume:

NollieWhen I was in high school I fell in love with this scent and it was my scent, but during my senior year, PacSun stopped selling it and I couldn’t find it at any store. However, last summer, I found it at a PacSun somewhere in SoCal and I picked up two of the biggest bottles. I’ve been using this particular bottle for almost an entire year, and I only used half of it. It’s a little florally with slight “manlier” notes in it. It’s complex, but I love the way it smells when I first apply it, and I love the way it smells hours later. Definitely a more mature scent, but youthful at the same time.
