Since I brought up Essence Cosmetics, I obviously had to post about them right? This particular lip product kind of seems like an oxymoron to me. When I think about a lipstick I think of opaque colors with a comfortable formula. So what is this?
I was extremely intrigued with this particular line because it reminded me of a tinted lip balm. When I saw the product in the packaging, I thought that it would perform more like Revlon’s Lip Butters.
- Extremely comfortable formula
- Packaging doesn’t feel extremely cheap, especially for the price
- Price point is great (about $3)
- The scent is a mix of plastic and vanilla – but it doesn’t linger
- Very limited color range
I really think this is great for those who don’t have extremely pigmented lips. My lips are naturally mauve on it’s own so it’s really difficult for this particular color to meld with my natural lip color. If you have pinker lips or more neutral lips, I really think that this would be a great product to add just a little bit of color. I can see this being great for those who are just getting into makeup and those who are looking for a comfortable/moisturizing formula, but don’t want something greasy feeling like a typical lip balm. As far as longevity goes, it lasts for as long as you don’t eat or drink anything. It doesn’t claim to be super long wearing, so don’t expect it to be extremely opaque and long lasting – this is the complete opposite.
It’s an extremely low maintenance product that adds some moisture. If you have extremely pigmented lips, then you may have problems with it melding with your natural lip color.
I hope you enjoyed this first impression! Have you tried this product? What do you think about it? Let me know in the comments below!!
