Hi hi hi!
So I decided to attempt to do a What I Ate Wednesday, except, I took pictures on Tuesday. The reason behind it is that I stopped counting calories. Long story short, I don’t think my body had enough fuel to go through the day and help me lose weight. I decided instead of counting calories, I will just watch what I eat…
and watch my portion sizes. What has gotten me in trouble in the past was my portion sizes. I would always want 3 big meals a day. I know that most people say that you should eat 5-6 small meals a day, but I just can’t remember to eat that often. I would rather get it all over with. When I got weighed for my endoscopy I learned that I hadn’t lost any weight. After almost 1 1/2 months of going to the gym watching what I ate and doing whatever I could to drop the weight, I had nothing to show for it.
To be honest I was devastated, and I know I’ve mentioned that it’s not all about the numbers, and in reality, it really isn’t, but I was still devastated. Granted, my clothes were fitting a little better, I felt lighter, my face wasn’t as round and my FitBit was fitting looser, I still couldn’t shake the fact that I lost no weight. My boyfriend asked what I was doing to lose weight and I told him I was exercising and counting my calories. Then he said something that caught my attention – maybe it wasn’t because I was eating too much, but I was eating too little.
He explained that for my body it hasn’t had to work as hard as it is now, especially with adding in exercises almost everyday for 45 minutes – 1 hour. Since it hasn’t worked this hard before, it requires more energy from food to help break down the fat, but because I’m restricting myself a lot throughout the day, my body is holding on to the excess fat because it needs it to just sustain my body.
So from that point I stopped really tracking my calories. I think after a couple of weeks, I’ll start keeping track of my caloric intake, but focus more on portion sizes. Anyhow, let’s get into what I ate for the day!
Morning:Usually, I like to have a big morning meal because I eat really early in the morning, and by the time I get to work and have settled in, it’s usually 3-4 hours since I had eaten breakfast. Today, I had some cereal with cinnamon and milk and an english muffin sandwich with tuna, cheese, and spinach. Normally I don’t eat a huge breakfast like this, but I had woken up about 45 minutes earlier than I usually do and I didn’t want to be hungry right when I walked into work.
I usually bring leftovers for lunch, and the night before we had one of my favorite Filippino dishes – pork guisantes! It’s a tomato based dish and on top of rice it’s delicious! The container looks huge in the picture, but in reality, it’s a little bigger than my palm. I would say it was about 1/4-1/3 cup rice and about 1/4 cup of pork guisantes.
Dinner was one of my favorites too! I love tacos! To be honest I could probably devour 4 of these tacos, but I am trying to watch my portion sizes so I ate two tacos with a side of roasted carrots (another fave). There wasn’t anything crazy/special about the tacos, but they were delicious!
Who can resist dessert?! I have a major sweet tooth and I can’t deprive myself from the chocolate. To satisfy my craving, I decided to have 2 pieces of egg shapes Resse’s. Seriously, who can say no to Reese’s?!
