Hi hi hi guys!
If you follow me on Instagrm or Twitter, you’ll know that I was pretty excited to see the entire collaboration between MAC and Charlotte Olympia. If you didn’t know Charlotte Olympia has some fun and unique heels, shoes, and accessories. I love the fun spirit they have with all of their items. I wanted to see what their collection would consist of and how much of a variety there would be.
Obviously if you can tell that I didn’t invest in the entire collection. If you didn’t have a chance, take the time to head over to maccosmetics.com and check it out. In the collection their collection they have:
- 3 lipsticks – varying shades of red
- 2 lipmix’s – varying shades of red
- 2 pro longwear lip pencils – varying shades of red
- 1 pigment – light beige (pearl finish)
- 1 mascara – brown
- 1 eyeliner – brown
- 2 cream color bases – light golden brown; deep brown
- 3 nail lacquers – red, white, and deep burgundy
- Brush 249 – eye shader brush
- Brush 204 – Lash brush
- Eyelash curler
- Oil blotting sheets
- Compact mirror
- Makeup bag
I felt that there really wasn’t anything that stood out or was unique. I honestly wish that there was more to the collection. I felt like it was just missing something. I understand that they were going for a whole retro theme, but I feel like that it was an opportunity missed.
I picked up two things from the collection – to be honest if the packaging wasn’t as unique as it is, I most likely wouldn’t have picked up anything. I decided to pick up one of the lipsticks and one of the nail lacquers. Can you guess what color I picked for the lipstick?! You’re right I bought red! Well, you had a 3/3 chance of guessing that I bought a red lipstick.
To be honest, I was expecting some type of eyeshadow palette or at least blushes, but I didn’t get what I wanted in the collection. The collection felt too small and too many odds and ends. Instead of the oil blotting sheets, eyelash curler, compact mirror, and brushes, I would’ve enjoyed either single eyeshadows or blushes or highlighters. I could honestly think of so many other things that I would’ve wanted to see and I can even picture how they would be packaged!
This collection was a disappointment for me. There was so much more that could’ve been done, but at the end of the day, it feels like the ball was dropped. Or maybe there was just too much time put into the packaging and not enough time into the actual product line.
