MAC Vibe Tribe Collection – Hot Chocolate Lipstick

Hi hi hi!

One of my favorite MAC products has to be their lipsticks. I haven’t really met a MAC lipstick I didn’t like and their smell – honey it’s amazing! I had seen swatches of Hot Chocolate on a couple of Instagram accounts (before the collection launched) and I knew that I wanted to get my hands on it.

Color Description: This is a satin finish lipstick and it’s described to be a “dirty plum” color. However, I don’t find it having a lot of purple tones, but to me it does have some taupe/brown undertones with hints of like a reddish brown. In the tube it looks like a simple color, but to me it looks more complex.

Texture and Wear: Like I said, I love MAC lipsticks. Great formula, scent, and wear time. Keep in mind it is a lipstick so basically it will last as long as you don’t eat or drink anything. Here in the desert, I am always drinking water, so you can imagine that this particular color doesn’t last long on my lips. I do like the way it wears though because it doesn’t give me any weird lines and it doesn’t fade unevenly. It is a little bit drier than some of the other MAC lipsticks I have, but it doesn’t hinder the overall application.

Overall Rating: A-

Reason: I love the color and to me it’s unique. I don’t have anything that has the exact same undertones as this lipstick and I like how it’s just a neutral color on my lips. The only reason it’s not an A+ is because this particular lipstick is dry. It could be because I just got a bad tube or it could be that the pigments used took up a lot of the moisture.
