Ride or Die – Face Edition

Ride or Die - Face Edition

Hi hi hi! Since I shared all of my ride or die drug store picks, I wanted to share some of my favorite department store products. I felt like there are just way too many products to shove into one post, so I wanted to break it up. Let me share with you my go-to picks for my face.

Tarte – TarteGuard
Personally, I’m not a huge fan of primers. I like the concept and the idea, but I just haven’t found one that really was a life changer . However, I do like having Tarte’s TarteGuard under my foundation. Yes it’s sunscreen and yes it’s technically a skincare item, but this is definitely one of the best sunscreens that I have used. It doesn’t give me that extreme white-cast like other sunscreens I used, it doesn’t have the harsh sunscreen scent, it blends into my skin and feels like my skin, it doesn’t ruin the way any of my foundations wear, overall it’s just a great product. It retails for $32 and you can pick it up at Sephora, Ulta, tartecosmetics.com, and where Tarte is sold.

Make Up For Ever – Ultra HD Foundation
A great foundation that lasts – it looks and feels just like skin and the shade range is amazing! This is one of those foundations that provides you the coverage you need without it feeling extremely heavy on your face and without it feeling greasy. I get a long wear-time out of it and I don’t have any problems with the foundation “breaking down.” It’s a great foundation that is definitely worth the money. Make Up For Ever’s Ultra HD Foundation retails for $43 and you can purchase it at Ulta, Sephora, Make Up For Ever’s website, and where Make Up For Ever is sold.

Clinique – Beyond Perfecting
You want to talk about an amazing foundation that doesn’t break the bank? This is it. Clinique’s Beyond Perfecting foundation had so much hype a few months ago, I decided why not give it a try – and I fell in love. The applicator is a great idea because it is a thicker foundation and it helps to evenly disperse product. The applicator is also great because it if you need extra coverage in a specific area, you can target it using the applicator. It is a thicker formula, but it doesn’t feel that way on your skin – it’s extremely breathable and again, I solely believe it’s because the applicator disperses the right amount of product. When I say this doesn’t break the bank, it really doesn’t – it retails for $27 and you can pick it up at Sephora, Ulta, Clinique.com, and where Clinique is sold.

Too Faced – Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer
I thought that this particular version of the chocolate soleil bronzer would be too light, but after receiving a deluxe sample, this is my favorite go-to. It’s not too light where it doesn’t really show up on my skin and it’s not too dark/muddy looking. Plus, it smells like chocolate, what’s better than that? It retails for $30, which really isn’t bad (I’ve had the sample  size for a while now) and it will last you for a really long time and there isn’t a lot of kick-back/fallout. You can buy this at Ulta, Sephora, toofaced.com, and places where Too Faced products are sold.

BECCA Cosmetics – Shimmering Skin Perfector – Champagne Gold
This was really close between Champagne Gold and Prosecco Pop (from the Jaclyn Hill – Champagne Glow Face Palette). The only reason why I picked Champagne Gold over Prosecco Pop is the fact that Champagne Gold is packaged in it’s own compact. Champagne Gold is a perfect color for any skin-tone and you get such an amazing payoff from just the littlest amount. When I first bought this, I think I used it everyday; it’s such a fine shimmery highlight that pops! It retails for $38 and you can purchase it at Ulta, Sephora, beccacosmetics.com, and other places that sell BECCA Cosmetics.

Too Faced – Sweetheart Blush – Peach Beach
Seriously, this blush is life and I am so in love with it that it sometimes hurts to use other blushes. I have 2-3 other blushes that I do like, but I just always go back to this particular blush because it just works with any look I’m going for. It is a shimmery blush, but it’s not overpowering – to be honest when you tap off the excess, most of the shimmer comes off anyways. It’s a warm peachy color and I think that it would work for a lot of skin-tones. Also, it may seem like you don’t get a lot of product, but trust me you do – I have had this particular blush for maybe almost 2 years and I have not hit pan on it and I don’t think I’m even close and you don’t need a lot of product to get a good color payoff. I was lucky enough to pick up 2 of these Sweetheart Blushes during one of Ulta’s 21 days of beauty so I basically got 2 for the price of 1! This blush retails for $30 and you can pick it up at Ulta, Sephora, toofaced.com, and anywhere Too Faced is sold.

Urban Decay – All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
This is my holy grail setting spray. I have tried a bunch of them and I always go back to this one. I love how it doesn’t have a weird smell and/or make my face feel tight. It’s just the perfect combination of a great formula and a great spray nozzle. I have tried some setting spray where the spray nozzle just spats the product on my face and it can cause my makeup to look splotchy. Other setting sprays have a weird scent to them and sometimes they leave my skin feeling a little tacky. The All Nighter spray quickly helps blend my makeup to make it look like my real skin and seriously extends the life of my makeup. I have gone through so many bottles of these and I keep going back. It retails for $30, but on Urban Decay”s website, they have a great deal where you can get a 2 pack for $39 and if you’re lucky enough there might be a discount code when you sign up for their emails. Even without the discount code, the two pack is a great deal because you save about $21. You can purchase Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray at Sephora, Ulta, urbandecay.com, and other places that Urban Decay is sold.

MAC Cosmetics – Trip The Light Fantastic Powder – Highly Illogical
This is a very very new product I added to my collection, but I already knew that this would be a go-to product for me. Personally, I wouldn’t consider this a highlighter for me, but more of an illuminator. It’s not as intense as Becca’s Champagne Pop, but it does provide me a warm illumination on my skin and I love it. When I don’t want to go with something extremely intense, I will definitely reach for this and I know I’m going to reach for this a lot during Fall and Winter. This provides me with just a warm bronze/gold glow, without it being in-yo-face. I love the subtleness it has without it fading.
These are my favorite department store face products and to be honest, I use these way more than my drug store ride or dies. Why? I’m actually not sure why, but I think it’s because they are just so much more impressive than some of the drug store products that are out there. I definitely think that these products are worth the investment and except for the foundation (too tan to use the colors I have) and the highlighter/illuminator (I alternate) I have used/use the products everyday.
