Hi hi hi!
I’m not sure about you, but I love all lip colors that fall under the “My Lips But Better” category. They are so easy to use, match with anything, and they’re perfect to keep in your purse as a go-to color. Lolita was the first color I tried in Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick line and I can definitely see why it’s a cult favorite.
I can’t deny that this product has some really amazing pigmentation – one swipe on my upper and lower lip and I’m good to go. There is no need for me to apply more than 1 layer and I don’t find any weird patching going on as I’m applying the product.
Like most liquid lipstick formulas, it will wear off the more you eat and drink. Also, the type of food you eat will affect the longevity. During a “normal” eating day, I never reapply becuase I’m still left with a light layer of the color. For me a normal eating day consists of a lot of water and a cup of coffee and foods that aren’t extremely greasy and need to be eaten with a utensil. In other words, I’m not eating soups, sandwiches, salads, burritos, tacos, etc. I am Asian and I love my rice, so I eat a lot of rice dishes which aren’t too oily and don’t really mess with the lip color. If I do have something like a salad with dressing or a cheeseburger, then obviously the lip color doesn’t last as long and I end up having an ombre look where I’m missing color in the middle of my lips. On an average day this can last me 8+ hours (usually once I get home, I wipe off the remnants with a makeup wipe).
This is extremely longwearing and dries down extremely matte. These two attributes create a very drying liquid lipstick. I’m not going to lie, my lips need TLC after using this, but I really don’t mind. Like I had mentioned up top, it dries down to a completely matte finish and it does feel a little tacky to the touch; you can get rid of the tacky feeling my kissing the back of your hand or lightly dabbing any excess with you ring finger. I would avoid using a tissue or napkin because the fine little lint pieces could get stuck to your lips.
There is something about this doe-foot applicator that makes applying this product extremely easy. Compared to other liquid lipsticks with a similar applicator, I feel like the one in the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick is stiffer which allows me to have so much control as I’m applying the product. I have an easy time applying it to even the thinnest areas of my lips with no problem. There are times when I have to add on a second layer, and I never seem to have a problem with it. Surprisingly, after a second layer, it still looks like I only have one layer of it on.
Everything about this product is perfect for my lifestyle. I keep it with me everyday during the workweek and on the weekends I usually like to give my lips a little break. Though the formula is extremely harsh on my lips, the way it wears throughout the day makes it worth it. If I have an event after a long day at work, the last thing I want to do is worry about what my lipcolor is doing. Lolita is a perfect my lips but better color and it’s just so easy and so convenient. To repair my lips at the end of the day, I usually use a lip scrub and take off any of the gross skin and then I use Jack Black’s lip balm – this stuff is seriously amazing and provides my lips with so much moisture!
If you are curious as to whether I would buy a full size of this or not, I have to say, “did you not read the review?!” haha I absolutely love this product and I would definitely invest in a full size version of it. I have purchased a full size of Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick, but it’s in an extremely vampy color. I haven’t had the chance to wear it as much as this one, but I did love it when I wore it.
