I can’t believe I’m talking about holiday gifts! Seriously, it seems like just yesterday I was complaining about the warm weather here in Las Vegas. Though it’s still a tad bit warm, I already started working on my shopping list for Christmas. I will be sharing my picks for beauty items, office/organizational items, accessories, purses, etc.
The formulation on NARS’ Velvet Lip Glides is amazing! I love how long-wearing, comfortable and opaque it is. This set has a great range of colors for any lippie lover and it’s also a great way for someone to try a new formula that’s on the market. You also get a decent amount of product – each bottle holds 0.12 oz of product and the original bottles hold 0.2 oz, so there’s not a huge differentiation in product size compared to the original. Basically the breakdown comes to $7.50 per color, while a full-size is $26. Great value for a great set.
One of my favorite formulas! This set is great for the lippie lover who loves to experiment with fun and bold colors. With 8 mini liquid lipsticks ranging in classic nudes and reds to fun purples and bright pinks, this is for the adventurous. The formula is on the drier side, but these liquid lipsticks do not budge. Each liquid lipstick holds 0.1 oz of product, which doesn’t seem like a lot, but keep in mind that you really don’t need a lot for it to last all day. I have a deluxe mini version that I used to use on a daily basis, and I have yet to use a quarter of it!
I have been trying this set out for the past couple of weeks, and I think this is great for the lippie lover who loves neutrals. You have 3 colors that are “safe” and one color that I see as being a bit out of some people’s comfort zone, but still very wearable. Each lipstick tube contains 0.045 oz of product which will last a decent amount of time. The formula is also extremely comfortable on the lips – it feels moisturizing and extremely creamy. I would say that it takes 1-2 swipes to get an opaque finish, but it’s great for everyday wear. My personal favorite color is Fig.
To be honest I have never tried a YSL lipstick, however, I have heard a lot of great things about them. If you know a lippie lover that loves high-end products or you just want to spoil a lippie lover in your life, this will be an amazing set! You have 3 neutral colors that can work with practically any look and then you have a standout red. This will be great for someone who is wanting to branch out in regards to color, since it also includes (what looks to be) a wearable red. Like I said, I have never tried a YSL lipstick, but I think this is a great way to try out a luxury brand without breaking the bank.
When it comes to Sephora Collection, I think that it gets overlooked a lot. In reality, they actually have some pretty decent products. Again, I have yet to try an actual lipstick from them, but I do have samples of it that I have yet to try. There are 3 cream colored formulas and 3 shine formulas. The shine formulas are on the sheerer side and will provide a light wash of color while providing a lot of moisture. The cream formula is more pigmented and provides a more opaque application than the shine formula. Unfortunately, the set leans more towards a lippie lover who is comfortable with using a range of colors, but also likes an easy formula that provides a wash of color.
Another formula I have yet to try, but have heard rave reviews. I love this lipstick set because you get a great array of colors that are great for any lippie lover. There are 2 nudes, 1 medium pinky coral, 2 reds, and 1 mid-tone purple. I definitely think these colors are user friendly and aren’t too extreme. The mattifier is also pretty neat because you can use it on any other lip product. Another thing to note is that this is part of a full holiday collection that Smashbox has, and majority of these containers can be used as storage afterwards.
I remember trying this out for a little bit when it first came out and I have to say I really like this formula. If I remember correctly, it’s not too drying and the color does last a decent amount of time. The exclusive portion of this set is the topper that provides an extra sparkle to the overall matte look. This set is great for those lippie lovers who love a no fuss type of product and enjoy using pinky toned colors. I wills ay that this particular set is probably the only set I don’t see working with every skin-tone, so I would suggest being very careful if you do want to pick this up.
Now this is like the ultimate collection for a lippie lover! This has a great amount of neutral colors and a wide variety of colors that any lippie lover will find multiple colors to fall in love with. There are 3 different formulas, each with 5 different colors, which is a great way to try a variety of colors and formulas. I definitely love the fact that this is such a great value! Each product comes out to about $3.93 each, which is a ton of bang for your buck. If you are looking for stocking stuffers, this is also a great option. I just think there’s a lot to fall in love with and you never run out of product.
Clinique: Chubby Treats Set | $25
Clinique’s chubby sticks are perfect, I mean absolutely perfect for the lippie lover who loves neutral colors and doesn’t like to stray away from their comfort zone. The only problem with these chubby stick set is that there is very little product in each tube – long story short, what you see is literally what you get, the tube does not twist. Although it is such a small amount of product, you need to keep in mind that it does take a while to work one’s way through each color. I can see this working perfectly into my life. I have found that it’s so much easier for me to carry smaller lip products than full sized products and I tend to gravitate towards easy my lips but better colors. This is a little pricy for what you get (about $4.17/stick), I think it’s one of those things that will be used often, if not everyday.
The Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint formula like your typical long-wearing matte liquid lipstick. It can be drying and I have experienced some of the colors oxidizing on me. Regardless, it’s still a great liquid lip paint. I must warn you though, I was scrolling through the reviews and there were a ton of negative comments regarding the lip pencil. I haven’t tried the lip pencils (I choose to not splurge on lip pencils), but from the reviews it sounds like the pencils are extremely dry and will flake off as you use them. I also must warn you that from the reviews, the Tarteist lip paints are tiny. The only reason why I included this set is because everyone has their own experience with makeup, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. I do think this is a great kit to try out another brand’s product, especially if the lippie lover you know loves to explore different products.
