Colourpop x Hello Kitty | Ultra Metallic Lip – Surprise

Hi hi hi!

Words cannot describe how excited I was when I found out that Coloupop was doing a collaboration with one of my favorite characters/brand – Hello Kitty. I knew I wanted to pick up goodies from the collection.

Coulourpop came out with their Ultra Metallic Lip formula during the Summer (heading into Fall) – I did pick up a couple colors and I must warn you that if you’re interested in it, the formula is different from what you would consider metallic. It’s more of an extremely glittery, but not gritty formula, that is on the drier side. You can literally see how dry the formula is as soon as you take the wand out from the tube.

Pigmentation 9/10:

Though it doesn’t take a whole lot of work to get an opaque application, I did notice that because of how dry the formula is there are some patchy areas. My upper lip needed 2 layers while my lower lip looked fine with one layer.

Longevity 9/10:

Surprisingly this color lasts for a really long time. When I apply it around 7:30AM and after I eat lunch the main color is still there. The only thing that doesn’t really last is the “metallic” look. You do see hints of the shimmer and some metallic properties, but it’s just not intense. Even after I eat and dab my lips, the color is there, but the actual finish of the product is gone.

Texture 7/10:

Though it feels smooth on the lips event with all the glitter in it, it has a tacky finish. Personally I’m not a huge fan of how tacky it is. Even after 2 hours, the tacky-ness is still relevant. After about 4 hours the tacky-ness goes down, but I can still feel my lips sticking together. For a liquid lipstick, I would expect it to be a formula that dries down. If I dab off a little bit of it to get rid of the tacky feeling, I end up taking off some of the actual glitter and it changes the finish of the look.

Application 10/10:

The wand provides me so much control and the doe-foot applicator is the perfect size to get in the smallest corners of my lips and yet cover my entire lip. The product applies smoothly and the applicator allows me to apply an even amount of pressure. I also really like the fact that the doe-foot is stiffer than most applicators because it allows me to really get an opaque layer, while having enough control to work it into the smaller the smaller corners of my lips.

Overall: 8.75/10

This particular product is barely above average, but what really makes it a go-to for me is how unique the color is to my collection. It’s perfect for the holidays because it has this golden metallic shine to it and the color is like a berry-red that isn’t too bright. I love how it makes my complexion look brighter and it seriously put me in the holiday spirit. I also love the fact that this color is something I would definitely wear in the warmer months too because it does have the added “brightness” from the metallic/shimmery finish.

To be honest, I wouldn’t call this a metallic liquid lippie because I feel like it’s mainly shimmer/glitter rather than an actual metallic finish like Milani’s Ammore Mattealics . Since it’s not really a metallic lippie, I really don’t know what I would call it. It’s just a very different formula from what I’m used to and though it may be different, it’s not extremely uncomfortable to wear.
