Hi hi hi!
It’s about time that I started talking about makeup again right?! Anyhow, I hope you guys had a great weekend and I want to welcome you back to another review! I’m not sure if you’ve heard of e.l.f., but they have been one of my go-to brands for a while, especially if there’s a trend that I want to try out, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money. They have affordable products and I have rarely rant into a terrible product.
For today’s review we’re going to focus on their Lon-Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow, in the color Soiree. These are most comparable to L’Oreal’s Infallible Eyeshadows. Interested? Keep reading!
What is it?: “Soft and fluffy, these vibrant, Shimmering Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow colors can be used as eyeshadow or a bold liner. The whipped gel texture is easy to blend and lightweight for lasting comfort and wear. Perfect for highlighting the brow bone and adding extra shimmer for a truly glam look.” – elfcosmetics.com
Thoughts: Soiree is a beautiful cranberry color (in the pot) with a lot of glitter and shimmer. Once applied the main base color sheers out and you’re left with a glittery shimmer. I inserted a few pictures below of how I used this particular color; as you can see I incorporated it into a lot of warm red looks mainly because I loved the pop of shimmer it provided me.
In the first look I used it all over my lids as the main color and I added in a light peachy-taupe in the crease and a darker Merlot color on the outer corner. Obviously (or maybe not so obviously) I used this look on Easter and surprisingly the eyeshadow really held up throughout the day. After spending the day with my family, I was pleasantly surprised when I got home that my eyeliner didn’t budge and the glitter didn’t transfer to my crease. When I use the L’Oreal Infalliable, I sometimes have the problem with the shimmers gathering in my crease area. I wore the eyeshadow for a total of 11 hours.
The second look was using it more of an accent color. My favorite go-to look is an easy smokey eye. There are times when I want to add an accent in the middle (so it looks like a semi halo look), but sometimes I never get the exact look that I’m hoping for. What I loved about this look was the fact that it was easy to use and it the glitter didn’t budge. Very similar to the L’Oreal Infalliable, when I use shimmery/glittery eyeshadows, the glitter tends to transfer to my crease or (surprisingly) to my lashline and on to my eyeliner. I was pleasantly surprised, yet again, with how well this lasted. I used this on a typical work day and I usually have my makeup on for about 13 hours (I’m usually done with my makeup by 7:30am and I don’t take it off till I shower, which is usually at (8:00pm). What surprised me the most was the fact that none of the glitter transferred or moved!

Overall: I really do like this product and I wish they had more colors to choose from because I would definitely pick almost all of them up. To the touch it’s extremely smooth and though it has a ton of glitter, you don’t feel any of it! It applies pretty evenly and I would highly suggest using your fingers to apply the product. I do notice that sometimes the glitter clusters together, but it’s really easy to fix it.
I would highly suggest using a primer under this and it’s great for those who want an easy to-go eyeshadow. The color Toast is a more wearable color for everyday and you can easily swipe it on buff it out with a crease brush and your good to go out the door. I’m thinking about picking up the color in Toast and Confetti to see how they look and I am interested to see if I could use Confetti as a highlight.
