Hi hi hi!
On Facebook, I have been following an online makeup store called Miss A. They sell brands like AOA, Kleancolor, Kara Eyelashes and more – the best part THEY ARE ALL EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE. Not only do they sell makeup, but they also sell affordable accessories as well!
Anyhow, I wanted to share this amazing find. I know the beautyblender has been around for years, but I finally tried it out and I think I found a better option. Interested? Keep reading!
So I wanted to find a dirt cheap option for a beautyblender and I knew I could rely on Miss A to come through! Like I had mentioned they have amazingly affordable products and it can become an addiction.
What it is: “This latex-free cosmetic sponge perfect for foundation application and contouring. It’s unique shape allows the blender to be used for many different products and easy to grip. Use the pointed top to contour and sculpt, the flat edge for foundation application to larger areas of the face with a flawless finish. This sponge is also great for adding highlight and blush to different areas of the face.
AOA Wonder Blender rivals the beauty industry’s leading makeup blender brand and is the ultimate sponge tool for all liquid, cream and powder products. This sponge provides a flawless, airbrushed finish without streaking or blotchiness.” – shopmissa.com
Price: Before I tell you how much it is, I hope you’re sitting down, now brace yourselves. It’s $1. Let that sink in for a moment, and no I did not type that incorrectly, it’s $1.
When I started using this, I didn’t have the beautyblender to compare it to, but I did have the Ulta sponges (it comes in a two pack for $10) and I used to swear by them. However I had started using a new one and they just didn’t feel the same; I’ll go over that in another post. I immediately loved the fact that once this was damp and I squeezed out the excess water, it was a really good size and it had this density to it that is amazing with blending out my foundation. I felt like my Ulta sponge became way too squishy and it’s tough to feel like I have a really good grip on the sponge. However, with this particular sponge it holds its shape so well!
I was extremely impressed with the coverage I received from it and how well it blended out my foundation. I recently picked up the beautyblender to test it out and compare it and to be honest, I love this sponge 10x more than the beautyblender. I have been switching rotating between this sponge, my Ulta sponge, and the beautyblender, and to be honest, I have only received compliments on my skin whenever I used this sponge!
Now you may be thinking:
- How long have you used it?
- Have you washed out?
- How is it holding up?
I have been testing this sponge out for almost a month and it’s been holding up extremely well so far – even through washes! I have washed it a few times with a brush cleaner from Real Techniques and I have also tried washing it with the beautyblender solid soap, which is what worked best. So far, it seems to be holding up pretty well and there are no signs of wear and tear on it. In my opinion, I feel like it’s holding up a lot better because it’s a denser sponge than the beautyblender and Ulta’s sponges. I would definitely consider picking up more!
I highly recommend AOA’s Wonder Blender in black – I suggest black because it doesn’t show the foundation on it, which is great for a normal/average makeup user. It’s also extremely affordable, I mean for $1, you really can’t beat that.
