benefit | GALifornia

Hi hi hi!

Welcome back to another review! I hope your week has been treating you well; if it’s like mine and has been crazy busy, I have some good news. It’s Wednesday, so that means the weekend is almost here – hang in there!

Anyhow today’s review will be on my very first benefit boxed blush. You would think that with all the makeup products and brands I try, I would have a bunch of these in my collection, but sadly I don’t. However, when I saw this pop-up on my Instagram feed, I knew that this would be the one I would pick up. Interested in my thoughts? Keep reading!

What Is It?: “Benefit’s GALifornia golden pink blush blends bright pink with shimmering gold, for a sunkissed glow that complements all skin tones. The embellished gold overspray lifts away with each use, and the formula is infused with a subtle shimmer throughout that gives your cheeks a soft sheen. The signature Galifornia Dreamin scent features notes of pink grapefruit and vanilla. It comes complete with a custom, rounded blush brush and a mirror for soft, diffused application.” – Sephora

Thoughts:

My biggest weakness in life is peach-toned blushes with golden shimmer and I was all about getting this blush. When I opened the packaging, it was easy to tell that there was a gold overspray on the product, but even after a couple of uses the gold overspray was still slightly visible. Once I worked my way to the actual product, it revealed a golden-pinky/peachy blush.

It’s easy to apply and if you’re a medium skin-toned beauty or darker, it’s one of those blushes where you don’t have to worry about applying too much. I loaded my blush brush with this product, and to my surprise, it wasn’t overpowering at all! Granted, I did have to buff it out a little to blend out the harsh edges. I love the overall look of the blush though. It gives me a straight from the beach flush with an added glow.

The longevity of the blush is also impressive because it lasts all day! It doesn’t transfer and it doesn’t move throughout the day. I do notice it fading just a bit towards the ending of a nine hour day, but it’s not like it completely disappears. It’s great for those days where I will be working an event after a long day at the office. I was also surprised to see that after the gold over-spray went away, there was still a golden shimmer to the overall look of the blush.

If you are extremely sensitive to scented product, this isn’t one that you really have to worry about. I’m not extremely sensitive to scented products, but I feel like this is so lightly fragrance that you really wouldn’t notice it.

Rankings:

Pigmentation: 8/10

Longevity: 9/10

Texture: 9/10

Application: 9/10

Overall: 8.75/10

I really think this is a great blush for Summer! One of the things that made me stray away from a lot of benefit’s boxed blushes was the fact that I felt like majority of them were too light for my skin-tone. What I like about this is that I feel like it’s darker than the other blushes and that it will compliment more skin-tones. I can see myself reaching for this blush on the daily and I am extremely impressed with it. What stops it from being the perfect blush for me is the fact that I don’t feel like this is a year-round type of blush (this is just a personal preference).

If you have tried this blush, let me know what you think! I would love to know your thoughts. If you are interested in seeing what products I’m testing out or interested in, feel free to follow me on Instagram and Twitter @ciaociao808. I also try to keep up with reviews on my YouTube channel!
