Hi hi hi!
Today’s review is on a product that, I have to be honest, haven’t really tested out. I tried it once and let’s just say I wasn’t the biggest fan. I actually recorded a first impression video on it, which you can check out on my channel (just click here). What Is It?: “Ink your lips in up to 16 HR saturated liquid matte. SuperStay Matte Ink™ features a unique arrow applicator for precise application and is available in a range of super saturated shades.” Price: $9.49 Availability: Walmart, Maybelline.com, Target, Ulta, other drug stores. Thoughts: I have never been more flabbergasted with a product. I have mentioned time and time again how much I love Maybelline’s products and there are very few products that I haven’t liked, but this has to be one of the more atrocious ones that I have tried. Let’s talk about the applicator first. The applicator is in a flat teardrop shape, but it has a little key-hole in the middle. The biggest problem that I have with the applicator is that it holds product wear the wand the sponge applicator connect, product tends to build-up and almost drips down. It’s a pain because I feel like it doesn’t evenly apply the product.
The product itself was such a hassle to apply and use. I struggled with getting an even layer and I found myself having a difficult time maneuvering the wand around the edges of my lips. As it began to dry it felt extremely tacky and when I tried to apply another layer I immediately noticed that the first layer or color began to pick up which made the overall look patchy. When I tried to fix the edges, I ended up smearing the color around my actual lip.
I have to admit that once the product actually dried down, it didn’t budge at all, but it ended up feeling uncomfortable for the very brief time that I wore it. I couldn’t wait to get it off and to be honest I didn’t want to use it again. It was so difficult to work with and even when I tried to wipe around the edges, the color just smeared around my lips and I couldn’t completely wipe the color off.
Though this particular product has great pigmentation and I’m sure the longevity is amazing, I just couldn’t deal with the application process and the overall texture. It took a few minutes for it to dry, but I ended up having to actually blot my lips because it was just taking too long to dry. It was a matte finish and felt thin on my lips, but it was just such a pain to use.
Have you tried out this product? What color have you tried? Let me know the color down below in the comments because I really want to give this product another try, but just in another color.
Until my next post!
