Hi hi hi!
Can you believe that we are almost to a new year?! I hope you having a great holiday season so far and are enjoying spending time with your loved ones. I wanted to begin wrapping up this year and I wanted to share my top beauty/makeup products that I have picked up this year and have won my heart over. By no means is this my ultimate holy grail list of products, but I wanted to give you an insight as to what has been incorporated into my daily routine.
I picked this up early in the year and I have been using it everyday since! It’s lightweight and brings just the right amount of moisture to my dry skin. The formula doesn’t affect the way my foundation applies, nor does it make my skin more greasy. I have to say, one of the main reasons why I enjoy it so much is the affordability of it – for $8 it has lasted me about 8+ months. The only downside is that it doesn’t include SPF, so if you like to have an all-in-one day moisturizer, you will want to pass on this.
This is the only item that I picked up from the Peaches and Cream collection from Too Faced and it has been a favorite go-to. The color itself is a warm dusty peach with a golden sheen to it and I absolutely love it! Not to mention, it smells like peaches! This was another product that I rotated in and out of my daily makeup area, and much like the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, I found myself constantly wanting to use it. This blush brings such a warm, almost sunkissed, look to the skin and I think that’s what I love about it the most. On my skintone, it’s not extremely noticeable, but it just adds a little something to a very neutral look.
Galifornia: Speaking of warm peach blushes, I have been in love with Galifornia from Benefit. This is my first ever Benefit Boxed BLush and I love it! It’s very similar to Papa Don’t Peach, but in my opinion, the base color isn’t as warm. I still get a beautiful golden glow from the blush and though I think it looks better during the warmer months, I still reach for it now.
Baked Swirl Gelato Illuminator – Diamond Dust: In my opinion Laura Geller highlighters don’t get the attention they deserve. They are the perfect medium when it comes to highlighters – not too intense and shimmery, but not extremely subtle. Diamond Dust is a gorgeous pearlescent highlighter and in the light you can see the pink-purple shift. It’s such a fun pop to a very natural and neutral look and since it’s not too intense, I can wear it to the office when I’m feeling a little extra.
Liquid Lip Velvet – Dark Rosewood/Fawn: If you don’t follow me on this blog, my Instagram, YouTube or Twitter, you won’t know how obsessed I am with this product! It is a luxury lip product, but to me it’s worth every penny. The product feels like it had been whipped and glides on effortlessly. There is a slight staining affect, but it’s by no means overly drying like a regular liquid lipstick. If you want something a little more affordable, you can check out NARS’ version (Velvet Lip GLide) and I have it in the color Bound (another favorite).
Surprise, surprise. I know I haven’t talked much about this mascara, but it’s amazing! I only started using it about 2-3 months ago and I adore it. I like how it fans out my lashes, gives it just a little bit of volume, and lasts all day. In some ways it reminds me of my holy grail mascara, Maybelline Falsies Flared, I don’t get the thickening effect that the Maybelline mascara provides. I have noticed that this particular mascara tends to dry faster than most of the other mascaras that I’ve tried in the past. I have yet to compare it to Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara, but trust me, when I have a day off, I will definitely be comparing the two.
I can’t believe I had discovered this product this year! It feels like it has been a long-time favorite and a go-to. If you aren’t into the intense, in-yo-face highlighters, this will be a great option to look at. This highlighter brings out such a natural glow and radiance without adding any shimmer/glitter. I’m not sure exactly how they do it, but it is simply a great product. Like I mentioned before, I can’t believe that I had only picked up this product this year! It feels like it’s a staple in my everyday makeup drawer and it’s just such a great light-weight product that I think many people would love.
Chocolate Soleil Bronzer: I had been rotating bronzers throughout the early part of this year, but even when I rotated, I found myself always wanting to go back to the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. It’s the perfect balance of warm and cool tones; it’s not too orange nor does it look too gray. I have a deluxe sample size of it and I finally hit pan! I think once I finish this up, and a few other contour bronzers I have in my collection, I will pick up a full size of this.
The Viseart Theory Palettes are great little palettes that allow you to try an amazing eyeshadow formula for a relatively affordable price. Keep in mind that you are paying for a high quality product. These shadows glide on like butter and they are just so smooth and pigmented, it really is a dream to work with. I picked up the Theory Palette in Nuance because I loved the cranberry tones of the shadows and they compliment a lot of the matte eyeshadows that I already use in my daily routine. Whenever I find myself in a rut or in a rush and I don’t want to think about what color combinations to use, I always reach for this palette. Unlike the other Theory Palettes, the Nuance version is an all shimmer palette.
That’s it! These are all the products that I picked up in 2017 and actually use on an almost daily basis. There were a lot of great releases/launches this year and though I didn’t have the opportunity to try out every single one of them, I was able to find some really great products that have stood the test of time.
