Hi hi hi!
Welcome to another weekly update! This week has been a pretty tame week. It’s nice to have all the blog posts scheduled and ready to go. I’m not sure where to start, so let’s just take it day by day.
Church day – it was like all the stars aligned because we had my favorite worship leader, Matt Biel, lead and one of my favorite guest pastors, Mike Breaux, concluded our series More Than Happy. It was such a good service and it just gave me the fuel that I needed for the week. If you are in the Ventura, CA area and have a Sunday to spare – check out Mission Church.
The rest of Sunday was pretty relaxing. However, when I went over to my parentals for dinner, it was a tough dinner. My mom and sisters just got back from visiting her parents who live back in Hawaii – it was a tough goodbye since my grandparents are getting older and they’re just having a tough time staying positive about everything. So my mom is thinking about taking a leave of absence to go back and live with them and take care of them. However, there are so many variable that we need to consider – I’m not sure what we are going to do. It was tough going home that night without just breaking down. I have been lucky enough to have grown up with both sets of grandparents, but now they are at an age where both sets are having their own struggles. So, the past 4 months have been pretty tough with all that.
It was a slow day but, my boyfriend really wanted to get one of those Instant Pot slow cooker/pressure cooker in one, so we picked one up from Walmart. I decided to make a recipe that I had seen earlier in the day for garlic chicken with potatoes. I started to slow cook it that night and I made myself butter chicken for dinner. My boyfriend had eaten at his parents’ house – don’t worry I didn’t starve him.
My biggest gripe I had with the crock pot thing was that it only stayed on “Keep Warm” for 4 hours. I guess it’s a good thing so that it doesn’t overheat, but I would have preferred to have it on a little longer. Anyhow, I woke up to check on the garlic chicken that I slow cooked overnight and it looked great, but it was really lacking on the garlic scent so I threw in a couple extra cloves to hopefully infuse it more. Before I left for work I actually ended up having to transfer everything into a container so I could put it in the refrigerator for the day. I wasn’t comfortable with having dinner just sit in the pot all day without being on warm.
As soon as I came home, I started to heat everything up and it was finally time to taste-test – and I wasn’t impressed. The chicken was bland and so were the potatoes. Granted, I took it easy on the salt since I added in bacon fat, it was still lacking so much flavor. I want to redo this recipe, but put my own spin on it. Overall great concept, just not enough umph.
Bowling night and it was fun. I was able to throw my plugged and drilled Absolute Inferno and my new Hustle Pow. The Absolute Inferno is a special ball for me – it was one that my dad had gotten for me because he loves it. However, since I moved up to throwing 15# I had to stop throwing mine, but I found a great deal on a 15# one and I love that it’s back in my arsenal. There’s just something about that ball that works so well with my game.
The Hustle Pow is a new addition to my arsenal. I wanted something that wasn’t too reactive, but could make the turn down lane and this is definitely it. I threw it the last game because I wanted to get used to it and see what it does. I still don’t quite get it, but it looks pretty rolling down the lane. I mean, who doesn’t love a pink bowling ball?!
Tonight was one of those rare nights where we didn’t have any food credit – so no fried calamari. It was a quiet night in as my boyfriend and I finished up the bland garlic chicken leftovers and I tried for about an hour to get the smell of gasoline off my hand and clothes. I honestly don’t know how it got everywhere, but it did.
I also spent the night working on a fun side project, but more on that later.
League went okay — Sometimes you just don’t bring the right equipment that you need. I wish that I had my Inferno Blue Flame, but unfortunately I didn’t have it with me. Unfortunately I didn’t win the side pot tonight, but it happens.
I finally had my lazy Saturday… kinda. I woke up and before picking up breakfast from Egg Works, I went to TJ Maxx hoping to find some great deals on makeup. Unfortunately I didn’t find much, but they did have some products from Too Faced, Bite, Anastasia of Beverly Hills, and Cargo. I was also hoping to find my favorite perfume, Versace Bright Crystal, but no luck. I did, however find a keto creamer! I was extremely excited to try it and I’m really excited to be trying it out. The best part is that it was only $6. I also picked up a mini cutting board which I have been wanting to cut cherry tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, etc.
I was also able to catch up on majority of my cleaning and laundry! Afterwards, we headed over to my boyfriend’s friend’s house for a little game night and we taught them my favorite game 7 Wonders. I’m telling you, you need to check it out!!
This week has been pretty chill, but for some reason I’m just feeling anxious. I’m not sure if I’m just overly stressing out or what, but I just am feeling like something big is going to happen and I’m not sure if it’s good or bad.
