Hi hi hi!
I got this crazy idea a few days ago while I was taking a quick break from work and scrolling through Instagram. I love seeing these glam looks shared on all the pages I followed, but living in Vegas, where temps can get up to 110+ degrees, I thought to myself that there’s no way these looks would last. So I decided to try one out.
Of course, when you need videos, you can’t find them, but I had seen videos from Tusharne Senior and I love all the looks she creates so I used the below video as my inspiration. Now, I didn’t have all the products that she used, which meant I had to be resourceful with some of the products that I used.
I used a Josie Maran Moonstone Drops in place of the Farsali Unicorn Essence, but I think I used way too much because it felt like my foundation just kept sliding EVERYWHERE. I used a brush at first to blend in the drops and my foundation, but halfway through I had to go in with a lightly dampened sponge to even everything out. I also had to doctor the eye look a bit since I wasn’t ready to walk out of the house with hearts on my eyes. I used the same palette, Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions, and I remembered why I hated this palette so much. On me, the colors look muddy and the shimmery/glittery shades are a huge pain to work with.
Below is the finished look and to give it the best possible shot in regards to longevity, I went ahead and used my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.
When I stepped outside, it was 105 degrees (Fahrenheit) and to be honest, it didn’t feel that hot. Once I got into the car, that was a whole different story. My boyfriend’s car has black leather seats and he has to park it outside in the sun; long story short, the car was extremely toasty when we got in. I could immediately feel myself sweating and I was so sure that all my oils were coming through. We headed to a local mall to run a few errands and it was back out into the heat for a little bit.
We got back to the condo and laid down for a little bit. I could feel the oils on my face and honestly, I was not comfortable with putting my face anywhere near a pillow or blanket.
Then it was off to church I went, I did not touch-up my face and to be honest, all I wanted to do was wipe everything off. The below picture is a screenshot from a video I was going to post that went along with this, but I ended up not liking the footage. I noticed that the foundation was breaking down around my nose area (my oiliest area) and that the creases under my eyes were accentuated and looked a little drier. Which was most likely caused by the excess amount of concealer I had on. Overall, in picture/video it looked great – my skin looked dewy and luminescent, but in real life it wasn’t as pretty.
After church I headed to the parentals for dinner and by that time it was about 8-9 hours of wear time.
That aint no nose highlight, that’s all the wonderful oils coming through. At the end of the day, I felt like I had lost coverage around my nose area and the middle part of my face. In some places, I feel like the foundation kind of bunched together. My foundation also never felt like it set – so any move I made, I felt like my foundation would easily come off or move around. Overall, it was comfortable at times, but also a little unnerving just because it constantly felt my makeup would slip right off.
I do want to do this challenge again using another look. If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments below!
