Hi hi hi!

Oh my goodness, I have so much to catch you guys up on! Hopefully you have been enjoying the secret vlogs over at my YouTube channel, if not, feel free to click here to check it out. Also, be sure to follow my blog for more of these posts! If you haven’t checked out the first post, click here. Like I said, there is so much to catch you guys up on, so let’s just jump right in!

Alrighty, let me catch you up on the ring saga. We originally placed the order with Kay, remember how in-depth I got? Well, all of that changed. Unfortunately, the setting wouldn’t be ready till September 20th! I thought that was kind of ridiculous and so my boyfriend/fiance requested a refund on his deposit. I really didn’t want to wait that long. So it was back to ring hunting for me.

I was hesitant to purchase a ring online, but after doing a lot of research, I think we were able to purchase from a reputable place, Brilliant Earth. They had such a variety of gems to choose from, which lead me to do even more research. I found that with morganite, it can be high-maintenance to keep it looking good and although it is a cheaper gem, it is a lot softer and would most likely have to be replaced after 5 or so years. There was one comment I read from a woman who purchased a morganite ring and she said that she has to polish it every night when she gets home because her lotion tends to build up around the gem causing it to look dull and cloudy. I also found out that it’s a much softer gem, so it’s susceptible to a lot of knicks and dings, which I wasn’t a huge fan of. I have very little coordination and tend to bump into a lot of things – my poor Michael Kors watch goes through hell when I’m at work.

Instead, I opted for a peach gem which I read is stronger and more durable than morganite and because most peach gems are lab created, they tend to be shinier than morganite. It also has a truer morganite color than a lot of morganite. So this is what I ended up choosing for the gem: Brilliant Earth - Peach Gem

Of course, I wanted it on a rose gold band and I still wanted to have a three-tiered ring, so this is what we ended up ordering:

Brilliant Earth - Radiance Band

I’m so excited to get it – it said estimated delivery was Thursday, July 26th. Which is perfect timing, because one of my favorite aunties will be coming into town on Sunday, July 29th. I can’t wait to share the news with everyone!

In regards to wedding planning, we still haven’t really figured it out. I am still leaning towards a beach wedding, but am thinking I will need to compromise and have it overlooking the beach. Anyhow, hopefully there will be more on that soon. I have started a private Pinterest board, but have since made it public, so you can check it out here!

Originally, I wanted to announce the engagement to my family with my boyfriend/fiance there, but he wouldn’t let me do my corny thing that I wanted to do, so I’m opting to do it by myself. Or to just wear the ring and see if the notice anything. I’m just excited to announce it to my whole family. I hope that this will add a ray of sunshine in what has been a very dark time for us. Believe it or not, we are still trying to cope with the loss of my uncle. If you didn’t know, he committed suicide at the end of April and we finally got to lay him to rest in June, but there are moments, like these, where him not being around is more prevalent than ever. He was such a quiet man, I wonder what he would have said when I told him the news. I know he’s watching over us, but the pain/hurt is still there.

I would like to do something small, for my mom’s side of the family, at the wedding, just to acknowledge his presence (or lack thereof). I’m not sure what, but I’m sure something will come to me.
